[ Jessie Daniels - Jessie Daniels ]

Track One: The Noise... here we go... it's funny that this song talks about coming through the static since i spent about a minute or so trying to get the headphones all tuned into the iPod to get beyond the static of whatever was in the way... anyway... i kind of just jumped in there, but that's kind of what the Walk TRu is all about, right?... this is Jessie Daniels that i'm listening to today and this is her lead single... and everyone says it sounds just like Kelly Clarkson's "Since You've Been Gone" and well... there are some definite similarities to it... but then again, it's not like Kelly was the first one to use this rhythm either... pretty decent song... lots of energy anyway... Track Two: Everyday... i tend to like this song a bit more than the previous one... it's a pretty cool... from the opening notes throughout the verse, the song builds towards the chorus which is just a real great burst of life... the melody is pretty fabulous... the production is near perfect and the vocals are breathtaking... maybe that's dramatic... perhaps i should say that she sounds just like "so and so" to be cool or something... anyway... i'm going out on a limb and saying that i really really like this song... Track Three: Hold Me Now... most of you probably don't know who Hello Kelly (not kitty) is... but the intro here reminds me of one of their songs which in turn reminded me of the praise chorus that goes... "He is exalted the King is exalted on high..." you know which one i'm talking about?... now that it's in your head, because of association, you'll never hear this song without singing those lyrics... unless i'm completely crazy and off-base... which is likely, but not today... anyway... that was a long sidebar... this is a ballad that talks about wanting to be held by God... it reminds me a lot of the Derek Webb and Donald Miller podcast, because Don answered the question "what do you want God to say to you in Heaven?" with (basically) "I just want Him to hold me"... he was more eloquent, but you get the gist... Track Four: Next to You... kids, coffee and kiwi don't mix well... keep water on hand to rinse between each bite for your own good... that's my breakfast tip of the day... trust me... this song is about flying through space... and also from a grander perspective about Jesus coming down to earth bending the rules of space to reach out to us so that we can be next to Him throughout eternity... and that we can feel connected to Him before that... Track Five: What I Hear... this intro is almost the same as "Everyday" rhythmically as well as the chord structure... the rest of the song is different, but i do like it also... this is a pretty deep thought here with Ms. Daniels... the song questions whether or not it's possible for God to really love us like the Bible says He does... "it sounds too good to be true"... i'm digging this song and it's gotten me into a great little typing rhythm assuming i don't make any mistakes... which is inevitable... but hey... typos and all, God still loves me... He loves me... yes it's real... yes it's TRu... anyway... Track Six: Hello, Goodbye... this has the strength of an eighties rock anthem like from Heart or something... hmm... i'm experiencing some network difficulties i guess... this is weird... anyway... this is a fairly fun song... except that it's so short, but it's kid of about not wasting time explaining why you don't want to be with someone who's a bad influence or whatever... just move on... kind of a slight hint of ska to it as well... that's pretty neat... now to figure out this network issue...

*** INTERMISSION (maybe it's cheating but i'm falling behind on this typing and i need to go stretch) ***

Track Seven: Stand Out... normally, i'd have gone for a stretch gotten some more water or something... but today i had to figure out this network thing... or try to... unsuccessfully... anyway...i'm pressing on for now, because my time is short and i want to make sure this gets done... this song has a nice bit of piano mixed in and the chorus is pretty strong without being overbearing or anything... this is a song about being an individual and not following the herd mentality that we see so often today... "what makes us beautiful is what makes us stand out"... nice message... be yourself... i would add the caveat of "within reason"... i just recently watched a video of KRS-One talking about being yourself... and his take on that is a bit off the deep end... Track Eight: What Happened to Me... i'd like to know what happened to all the electronic equipment within my arm's reach right now... the headphones are acting up now too... ah, life's conveniences... anyway... this is an interesting song talking about the transformation that we experience when we get saved and start following Christ... kind of an experience similar to Paul... he changed so much, he changed his name... which makes sense, since he wrote about putting off the old person and taking on the new life... anyway... a pretty cool song lyrically... nice lengthy outro for it too... Track Nine: I Will Wait for You... here's another ballad... and it's not the song you're probably thinking it is... i'll admit i thought it was that song too... young girl... "wait for you"... yep, we've been there before, right?... nope... not quite... this song doesn't have anything to do with sex or abstinence... it's all about patiently waiting on God even when it seems like He's forgotten about us... it's important to have this attitude since a lot of times when we rush God's timing... well... this is odd... i was just looking through the press kit, which was very well put together by the way... and this song doesn't exist... apparently it's supposed to be called "Human Being" and it has different lyrics... and it probably sounds different too... anyway... i'll have to look into that more later... Track Ten: Letting Me Go... this is a song about breakups... being dumped i think more specifically... being dumped and still holding on... even though they let you go... its pretty sad... but it's a pretty good song... kind of a ballad with a little bit of a swing rhythm to it... and the vocals are pretty tight on this... she kind of lets go on this one... which sounds pretty good... moving on... it's not the song it's me... Track Eleven: It's No Wonder... as far as i'm concerned we're in the bonus section of the album since for some reason, i thought that this was only a ten track album... this is pretty cool... it's a singer/songwriter style of song... starts out with just the acoustic guitar and then there's a bit of percussion for the chorus... but i'm really liking the feel to it... nice rhythm... nice balance of vocals and music... very cool... this seems to be about breaking up again... maybe she has problems with relationships... well, i guess we all do... i like this song though... it's very well structured and her vocals are stunning... good stuff here... and it's winding down... Track Twelve: Hold Me Now (Remix)... this actually is a bonus song and it's a remix of a song that i already talked about so i don't feel too bad wrapping up the Walk TRu on this note... this version feels a bit larger in scope than the original mix up there... there's strings and piano and an overall tone of grandness... i like it... but it probably wouldn't play well on the radio... anyway... since it's about that time... i'm going to start shutting this down... make sure to look for Jessie Daniels with Mickey Mouse ears and this full album coming out soon... thanks for walking with me... have a great weekend (hey, it's Memorial Day weekend, cook me a burger!)... keep it locked...

Jessie Daniels has turned a lot of heads already in the music industry, and not just because of her good looks. Her debut EP garnered significant interest from a few labels and eventually landed her on Radio Disney and Midas Records. Debuting on June 6th with self-titled release, Jessie Daniels is poised to be one of the voices of the next generation.
