Volume 1 :: August 2oo6

Welcome to iTRu-nes. Below is a twenty-song playlist which i carefully selected for your enjoyment. These are songs that i recommend listening to for the month of August. If you click the heading up there, it will magically take you to an iMix that i published with all these songs in it. (note: this magic occurs assuming that you have iTunes already installed on your computer and that nothing goes wrong). Please feel free to rate the iMix and/or purchase all the songs your heart (and ears) desire. Since i'm not a celebrity or anything like that, iTunes won't give me any room to comment on them individually so below are my non-celebrity iTRu-nes playlist. Enjoy.

01. Hoodwink - Anathallo:
Quirky. Artistic. Gutsy. Enthralling. Enjoyable. Just plain cool.

02. Get Down - Audio Adrenaline:
This has always been a fun song and, since the boys of Audio A are packing it up, it's a nice time to give them a shout-out.

03. Crazy - Ayiesha Woods:
New artist with a pretty fresh little vibe. This is my favorite track from the album.

04. Sometimes By Step - Bebo Norman & Rich Mullins:
I still remember singing this in college. Anything with Rich is good for me and Bebo does a phenominal job with it.

05. Wholly Yours - David Crowder Band:
A Collision is still in my most-played list. This song breaks things down so clearly and amazingly. Can't get enough of it.

06. Drifter - DecembeRadio:
I know, most people are getting into DecembeRadio because they have an energetic rock sound that makes them giddy or something. This song stands out for me though. Just plain gritty and raw and yet so smooth.

07. The River - Edison Glass:
Simply put, this is one of the most impressive new bands i've heard this year. The album is a contender for one of the top spots in my year-end list. This song represents why.

08. The Dumbfound Game - Fair:
Another top contender for album/group of the year honors. This entire album is beautiful and this song leaves me, um, dumbfounded?

09. This Love - Foolish Things:
Everyone needs a little fun, right? Here's a good fun track with an enjoyable little odd rhythm that strikes me as entertaining.

10. Something On My Mind - Hawk Nelson:
I keep coming back to this album for one reason or another. This song makes me happy. I like the piano. And you'll neva, eva, pull my leva!

11. Pulling Back the Skin - House of Heroes:
Old song. Re-issued. I still like it a lot. So much so, that i have both releases of the same album on my iPod. (That and i keep forgetting to take the old one off).

12. My Idea of Heaven (Radio Mix) - Leigh Nash:
How can you complain? Leigh Nash has one of the most relaxing voices around. Heavenly? sure, why not?

13. Sound of Melodies - Leeland:
This is the young buzz band of the month. Their album is coming out later this month and i think everyone is going to be pleased with it. Well, not everyone, everyone, but a lot of people, you know what i mean?

14. Yesterday - Mainstay:
It seems that the more i listen to this album, the more i like it. I love the melody and rhythm of this song. And i can totally relate to being only halfway here...

15. Nothing Left to Lose - Mat Kearney:
Another great single for Mat Kearney. Oh that falsetto is just so darn cool. I listened to it a lot while i was preparing last month's Left to Write feature.

16. That Sound (Featuring Lightheaded, The Procussions & Noelle) - Ohmega Watts:
Digging a little in the crates for this one. Well, last year, but for me that's a lot of CDs to dig through. I simply cannot get enough of this single. Very dope.

17. The Storm - The Procussions:
Single from the sophomore release from the Pros. Another solid outing and hey, this song was FREE not too long ago.

18. Pieces - RED:
Touching song about redemption and getting things put back into place. Nice imagery and i can't help but sing along. I tried sooo haaaaaard....

19. Just Showed Up for My Own Life - Sara Groves:
This song jumped out at me when it initially released and with her DVD coming out soon (a great film by the way) going by the same title, it reminded me to listen again.

20. The Way I Will - The Elms:
Great album. Nice driving song. Nice little swagger to the rhythm. And i like the metaphor.

One more time, the iMix with all these songs is available at iTunes under the name "iTRu-nes Playlist 2006-08-02." Please rate it and tell your friends all about it.
